Pauling is quite enlightening. Clear back in the 60's, Dr. Paining
talkedd about "orthomolecular
Psychiatry." (J. Science 1968;160:265.) He maintained that most, if
not all psychiatric disorders, were due to significant deficiencies in
key nutrients. He was able, as many practitioners familiar with his work
also do today, to help many people with psychiatric conditions, by adjusting

up on China's famine in 1959 found the rate of Schizophrenia doubled in

The brain-gut connection is quite important in depression. I have never
seen a depressed person with a 100% normal intestinal function. Most of
these people are told by misinformed practitioners that their depression
is causing the intestinal problems. Well, that is true in all diseases,
but there is also a reverse flow, where toxins, and poor intestinal function
may influence brain function. Hormonal function is also very important
in depression. Thyroid deficiencies, adrenal

A great number of studies have shown that when you vaccinate an animal,
the body's inflammatory cytokines not only increase dramatically, but so

age 50, people have exaggerated and prolonged "sickness behavior", much

HIERARCHY OF HEALTH

Human health is dynamic because we are constantly being subjected to
stress. As demonstrated in the following Hierarchy of Health, the
condition of an individual can fluctuate between health and disease. The
micronutritional status of an individual determines whether his or her
health is improving or declining. Micronutrients are minor food components
such as vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, etc. that are more frequently
being found to provide significant health benefits. A healthy body
holds reserves of valuable micronutrients and functions in a state referred
to as homeostatis. When a healthy person or animal is challenged
by stress, it is able to undergo an adaptation and maintain homeostasis
by drawing on first, its reserves of micronutrients and second, the strength
of the immune system.
Stress may present itself in many forms such as emotional, physical,
toxic or infectious challenges. When the body doesn’t have a sufficient
reserve of micronutrients, adaptation to stress cannot occur and it will
then move toward a state of disadaptation with subsequent metabolic changes.
If left unresolved, these metabolic changes can result in a compromised
immune status or pre-disease state, which leaves the body vulnerable to
latent genetic, chronic or virulent disease.
Although drugs may affect disease, they can only return the body to
a pre-disease state. Micronutrients are required
to reverse this process back through each state and completely return you

Stress From Violence, Disaster Can Linger For Years
People who survive natural disasters or severe violence are at high
risk for suffering years of post-traumatic stress disorder. In 1988, thousands
of Armenians were devastated by a severe earthquake; in that same year,
political violence erupted against ethnic Armenians in neighboring Azerbaijan.
Both countries formed after the break-up of the Soviet Union. In a study
of 78 Armenians who experienced either of these traumas, researchers found
that both groups had similar, long-term symptoms of post-traumatic stress.
First
widely recognized in veterans of the Vietnam War, post-traumatic stress
disorder is now recognized to be a problem in the larger population. Anyone
who survives intensely traumatic circumstances may show its signs and symptoms
-- including withdrawal from others, flashbacks, and feelings of helplessness.
The researchers looked at post-traumatic stress in three groups of adults
whom they had first studied 3 years earlier. In one group, subjects had
experienced minor earthquake damage, but were exposed to "graphic depictions"
of destruction in other parts of the country. In another group, people
had their lives directly threatened by the earthquake and had witnessed
the death and destruction it caused. Subjects in the third group had experienced
persecution in Azerbaijan, suffering threats to their own lives and witnessing
the torture or murder of family or friends.
The investigators found that people in the two most seriously traumatized
groups had the same level of post-traumatic stress symptoms. Moreover,
time did nothing to abate symptoms in either group. On the other hand,
depression in these groups had faded. The group that had experienced mild
earthquake damage saw their post-traumatic stress symptoms ease.The persistence
of post-traumatic stress in the other two groups, the authors write, mirrors
findings from studies of World War II prisoners-of-war and Cambodian refugees.
Armenians in this study were surrounded by "pervasive trauma reminders"
such as destroyed buildings, "shoddy" homes, and media reports of violence
in Azerbaijan. In addition, the post-traumatic stress had spurred other
emotionally draining problems, such as difficulties at work and in marriage."

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a therapeutic approach to discharging
excess emotional distress and liberating one's natural growth process.
It has its roots in ancient Chinese medicine and the modern science of
Applied Kinesiology.
EFT is the most effective therapy that I know of to rapidly and efficiently
resolve the physical consequences of severe emotional trauma.
All, not some, but ALL negative emotions are due to disruptions in
one's bioenergy system.
EFT was put together by Gary Craig and is a derivative of Thought Field
Therapy that was developed by Roger Callahan. TFT was my first introduction
into energy medicine which I learned in 1998.
However, EFT is much more streamlined and seems to achieve fabulous
results by balancing one's energy meridians while saying positive affirmations
about the addiction in question.
EFT is psychological acupuncture without the needles. It works by inputting
kinetic energy (tapping) onto specific acupuncture meridians on the head
and chest while actually activating the brain circuits that are involved
in the energy disruption by thinking about the problem.
Combining the above with a positive affirmation seems sufficient to
disrupt the field that is created from the emotion and its consequence
on one's physiology.
EFT centers around the profound effects of the body's subtle energies
using the theory that "the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption
in the body's energy system." Accordingly, EFT is an emotional form
of acupuncture except that we don't use needles. Instead, we tap
with the fingertips to stimulate certain meridian energy points while the
client is "tuned in" to the problem.
The subtle energies that circulate throughout the body have been largely
ignored (until recently) by western scientists. As a result, our
use of them for emotional and spiritual healing has been sparse at best.
With EFT, however, we consider these subtle energies to be the front running
cause of emotional upsets. As a result, we generate results that
are FAR beyond those of conventional methods. Even a cursory review

Further, EFT often provides relief for a very wide range of physical
symptoms. This, too, is abundantly clear in our case histories, which
provide unmistakable evidence of the link between our physical ailments
and our emotional issues.

number of newcomers to this exciting field get their start. We now

Compared to other techniques, EFT is usually quite gentle and substantial
relief is often achieved with little or no pain. This is not true

truly serious instances of this (sometimes called abreactions) is most
likely to occur in seriously emotionally damaged people (best estimate

SUGAR AND MENTAL HEALTH
In the Dark Ages, troubled souls were rarely locked up for going off
their rocker. Such confinement began in the Age of Enlightenment, after
sugar made the transition from apothecary's prescription to candymaker's
confection. "The great confinement of the insane", as one historian calls
it,10 began in the late 17th century, after sugar consumption in Britain
had zoomed in 200 years from a pinch or two in a barrel of beer, here and
there, to more than two million pounds per year. By that time, physicians
in London had begun to observe and record terminal physical signs and symptoms
of the "sugar blues".
Meanwhile, when sugar eaters did not manifest obvious terminal physical
symptoms and the physicians were professionally bewildered, patients were
no longer pronounced bewitched, but mad, insane, emotionally disturbed.
Laziness, fatigue, debauchery, parental displeasure-any one problem was
sufficient cause for people under twenty-five to be locked up in the first
Parisian mental hospitals. All it took to be incarcerated was a complaint
from parents, relatives or the omnipotent parish priest. Wet nurses with
their babies, pregnant youngsters, retarded or defective children, senior
citizens, paralytics, epileptics, prostitutes or raving lunatics-anyone
wanted off the streets and out of sight was put away. The mental hospital
succeeded witch-hunting and heresy-hounding as a more enlightened and humane
method of social control. The physician and priest handled the dirty work
of street sweeping in return for royal favours.
Initially, when the General Hospital was established in Paris by royal
decree, one per cent of the city's population was locked up. From that
time until the 20 century, as the consumption of sugar went up and up-especially
in the cities-so did the number of people who were put away in the General
Hospital. Three hundred years later, the "emotionally disturbed" can be
turned into walking automatons, their brains controlled with psychoactive
drugs.
Today, pioneers of orthomolecular psychiatry, such as Dr Abram Hoffer,
Dr Allan Cott, Dr A. Cherkin as well as Dr Linus Pauling, have confirmed
that mental illness is a myth and that emotional disturbance can be merely
the first symptom of the obvious inability of the human system to handle
the stress of sugar dependency.
In Orthomolecular Psychiatry, Dr Pauling writes: "The functioning of
the brain and nervous tissue is more sensitively dependent on the rate
of chemical reactions than the functioning of other organs and tissues.
I believe that mental disease is for the most part caused by abnormal reaction
rates, as determined by genetic constitution and diet, and by abnormal
molecular concentrations of essential substances... Selection of food (and
drugs) in a world that is undergoing rapid scientific and technological
change may often be far from the best."
