High levels of a chemical blamed for causing infertility in men have
been found in some of the world's best-known perfumes and cosmetics. Chanel
No 5, Christian Dior's Poison, Eternity from Calvin Klein and Tresor by
Lancome were among 34 toiletries found by a Swedish study to contain di-ethylhexyl
phthalate or other phthalates. The European Commission is proposing a ban
on the use in cosmetics of two of the most potent forms of phthalates amid
fears they cause genital abnormalities affecting up to 4 per cent of male
babies.
These genital abnormalities - which can include undescended testicles
and malformation of the urinary tract - are blamed for soaring levels of
testicular cancer in young men. Cases of the disease have risen tenfold
in the past century. About 1900 British males, some as young as 15, are
diagnosed every year. Nine out of 10 cases are cured, but doctors are worried
by the trend. Scientists believe the phthalates could be absorbed into
women's bloodstreams through the skin or inhalation.
The Cosmetic Toiletry and Perfumery Association condemned the report
as inaccurate. It said: "Consumer safety is the first priority for the
cosmetic industry and consumers can have complete confidence in the cosmetic
products they use, and in the regulatory framework which ensures cosmetic
safety." Numerous studies on rats and mice have shown phthalate exposure
causes genital abnormality. The latest research was conducted by a Swedish
government-accredited laboratory for Healthcare Without Harm, a US-based
organisation representing 300 consumer pressure groups around the world.
Researchers
at the Analycen lab analysed 34 leading brands of cosmetics and found more
than three-quarters contained phthalates, which help prevent loss of fragrance.
The investigation found other forms of the chemical in Tommy Girl perfume,
Impulse Body Spray, Nivea Deo Compact, Sure Ultra deodorant, Shockwaves
hair mousse and four hairsprays including Elnett Satin, Pantene Pro-V Extra
Hold and Vidal Sassoon.
Per Rosander, who wrote the report, said: "What we know about these
chemicals is that they cause damage to the reproductive system. That is
why they have been classed by the EU as reproductive toxins." Sharpe,
of the Medical Research Council's Human Reproductive Sciences Unit in Edinburgh,
said: "If you wanted to produce a list of environmental causes of the reproductive
health problems in boys, phthalates would be pretty near the top of the
list." Actor Julia Sawalha, who played Saffy in Absolutely Fabulous, supports
the Women's Environmental Network, a backer of the Swedish research. "Chemicals
that pose a risk to fertility do not belong in cosmetics, and manufacturers
should be made to list ingredients," she said.

T. Daniel, PhD - "In September of this year, researchers from the Harvard
School of Public Health presented evidence at the 63rd annual meeting of
the American Society for Reproductive Medicine showing that soy phytoestrogens
can seriously lower a man’s sperm count. This is old news to Weston A.
Price Foundation members. Over the years, we’ve often reported on research
that links soy consumption to poor sperm quality, lower testosterone levels
and sagging libidos. Dr. Chavarro and colleagues studied 100 men whose
partners were having trouble getting pregnant. Semen analyses showed that
the men with the highest levels of soy food intake-approximately a half
serving per day-had 41 million sperm per milliliter fewer than men who
did not consume any soy-that’s 41 million fewer sperm per milliliter on
just one-half cup of soy food per day! The researchers used a questionnaire
listing 15 soy-based foods to determine soy consumption over the preceding
three months." more
The ability of phytoestrogens to prevent reproduction in animals has
been known about since the 1940's. There is a wealth of evidence that shows
that mammals exposed to estrogens during critical periods of sexual development
can suffer a drastic reduction in fertility. There is also strong
evidence that soy phytoestrogens such as genistein can inhibit 17-b-hydroxysteroid
oxidoreductase, an enzyme which is required for the synthesis of testosterone
and the development of the CNS-gonadal axis. There is also
evidence that the soy isoflavones genstein and daidzein are genotoxic to
human sperm. It is quite possible, therefore, that phytoestrogens,
along with other endocrine disrupting compounds such as DDT, may contribute
to the worldwide decrease in male fertility. more

Thyroid Linked to Miscarriage Screening women for thyroid problems should be part of routine prenatal

other women. About 2% of pregnant women suffer from hypothyroidism, which

say amalgam (the "silver" fillings in your teeth) reduces fertility In a cell culture experiment, mercury affected hormone production at
low concentrations. A link has been found between mercury and hormone disturbances,
immune disturbances, recurrent fungal infections, hair
loss and allergies. The differences are large. Allergies and hair
loss are 2-3 times as common in the high- mercury group. These recent
results confirm earlier findings from Heidelberg on mercury and fertility.
According to the researchers, mercury exposure leads to hormone and immune
disturbances that can reduce fertility. In a cell culture experiment at
the Tuebingen University gynecological clinic, mercury affected hormone
production at low concentrations. The concentrations were so low that cell
vitality was otherwise almost unaffected.
Scientists from Imperial College, London University, will carry out
the research after doctors in Norway, Canada and the United States reported
higher levels of birth defects in areas where chlorine is used, compared
with drinking water treated by alternative methods. A Norwegian study of
141,000 births over three years found a 14 per cent increased risk of birth
defects in areas with chlorinated water. Scientists have already found
an association between chlorine and an increased risk of bowel, kidney
and bladder cancer, but it is the first time that a link has been found
with higher
levels of spina bifida.
Infertility in women was found to increase with water fluoridation.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) scientists reported a close correlation

all of the animal studies done to date shows that fluoride adversely affects
fertility in most animal species. More about

A decrease in levels of reduced glutathione (GSH) during sperm production
has been shown to cause disruption in the membrane integrity of spermatozoa
as a consequence of increased oxidative stress. Intracellular glutathione
levels of spermatozoa are shown to be decreased in certain populations
of infertile men. At the 94th Annual Meeting of the American Urological
Association, andrologists presented strong clinical evidence that men diagnosed
with infertility have high levels of oxidative stress that may impair the
quality of their sperm.
Compared
with a control group, the infertile men in all groups had significantly
higher levels of ROS and lower levels of total antioxidants. In some groups,
higher levels of ROS were associated with lower sperm counts and defective
sperm structure, while lower antioxidant levels correlated with reduced
sperm movement. Their results supported previous evidence showing that
oxidative stress can decrease a sperm's life span, its motility, and its
ability to penetrate the oocyst, or egg cell. Up to 40% of men with male
infertility without a known cause have higher levels of free radical activity
in their bodies. Because men with high levels of ROS have a seven-fold
lower likelihood of inducing a pregnancy than men with lower levels, researchers
recommend that treatment for infertile men should include strategies to
reduce oxidative stress and improve sperm quality.
In a double-blind cross-over study of 20 infertile men, treatment with
glutathione led to a statistically significant improvement of the sperm
quality. The study concerned men in whom the sperm quality was poor due
to unilateral varicocele or germ-free genital tract inflammation - two
conditions in which ROS or other toxic compounds are indicated as causative
factors. Treatment with glutathione was found to have a statistically significantly
positive effect on, among other things, sperm motility (in particular forward
motility) and on sperm morphology. The findings of these studies indicate
that glutathione therapy could represent
a possible therapeutical tool in cases where ROS or exposure to toxins
is the probable cause of male infertility.
The natural approach to treating infertility solves
the root causes of infertility, by addressing all body systems, rather
than just focusing solely on the reproductive system. Many couples who
can’t become pregnant suffer from a combination of sub-clinical conditions.
These conditions can’t cause infertility on their own but -- in combination
-- they can substantially reduce a couple’s probability of conceiving.

In response to growing demand, the thoughts and theories of the internationally
acclaimed fertility specialist Dr. Alan Beer have been documented. "Is
Your Body Baby-Friendly?" explains for the first time ever why "unexplained"
infertility, IVF failures and recurrent miscarriages happen. This book
shows how the immune system can behave in a way
that prevents a pregnancy from continuing. High levels of Natural Killer
cells, genetic compatibility between partners and blood clotting problems
are all significant causes of reproductive failure. Autoimmunity—either
inherited or environmentally triggered—is a major reason for the increase
in infertility and miscarriage today. In addition to medical treatments,
there are also natural ways that the immune system can be moderated to
create a more "baby-friendly" environment. For the first time, readers
will be able to see that their reproductive problems have a root cause
and that in many cases, they can be addressed with immune therapy and possibly
by making certain changes to their lifestyle.
Preventing
Miscarriages For an increasing number of couples, the joy of achieving pregnancy
results in a devastating situation in which a miscarriage occurs with the
loss of a pregnancy, usually in the first trimester. Miscarriages occur
in about one-sixth of all pregnancies, and many of them are due to a disarrangement
of chromosomes during cell division. This usually doesn’t happen two times.
However, some patients are plagued by repeated miscarriages. In these cases,
miscarriages may be due to hormonal imbalances, abnormalities of the uterus,
or genetic abnormalities. Modern technology can correct most of these problems.
Endometriosis is a condition where uterine tissue grows outside the uterus
and has also been associated with miscarriage. This condition can be detected
and cured so that it doesn’t interfere with pregnancy. In many couples
there’s an immunologic cause for multiple miscarriages. A simple blood
test can be done to look for abnormal antibodies which attack the early
placenta as it tries to develop its root system into the wall of the uterus.
For most causes of miscarriage, there’s a cure or a corrective procedure
available. Talk to a doctor in your area for more information.
Preventing
Multiple Miscarriages Dr. Valentin Govallo, MD, Ph.D. originally refined his most effective
technique for preventing miscarriage in 1991. He treated about 100 women,
most of whom have had 4 or more miscarriages and including 15 who had never
conceived at all, resulting in over 70 live full-term births. Subsequently,
over 1,000 babies were born this way.
Link
found between food packaging and miscarriages Scientists in Japan have found evidence of a link between recurrent
miscarriages and a chemical widely used in food packaging. Women with a
history of miscarriages were found to have higher levels of the compound
in their bodies. The scientists admit that their findings are based on
a small preliminary study, but say further research into the chemical's
effect on human reproduction is "definitely warranted". The compound is
called bisphenol-A or BPA. It is used in plastic food containers, cans
and dental sealants. Research suggests it leaches from products and is
absorbed in low concentrations by the human body. A separate study last
month suggested it might be a contributing factor to women developing breast
cancer.
A
small clinical study of infertile women as well as women with a history
of miscarriage found that low levels of magnesium may impair reproductive
function and increase the risk for miscarriage. The authors of the study
suggest that one aspect of the treatment of infertility (particularly in
women with a history of miscarriage) should include magnesium along with
selenium. More research in this area is needed.
Magnesium is nothing short of a miracle mineral in its healing effect
on a wide range of diseases as well as in its ability to rejuvenate the
aging body. Symptoms of magnesium deficiency may include agitation and
anxiety, restless leg syndrome (RLS), sleep disorders, irritability, nausea
and vomiting, abnormal heart rhythms, low blood pressure, confusion, muscle
spasm and weakness, hyperventilation, insomnia, and even seizures. Approximately
nine out of ten people will show dramatic improvements in the state of
their health when they replete their magnesium levels and the very best
way to do that is with ancient
minerals magnesium drawn from an ancient inactive seabed 2 miles beneath
the earth in Europe. With such “brine solutions” one can simply apply the
concentrate to the skin or pour it into ones bath water and one will have
a medical treatment of primordial priority. Nothing short of a miracle
is to be expected in ones health status if one is ill when one increases
the cellular levels of magnesium. more: educational

Dr. Jerry Tennant, M.D. says that marine
phytoplankton is a rich source of glyconutrients,
and contains almost everything one needs to sustain life and to restore
health by providing the raw materials to make new cells that function normally.
Marine phytoplankton has been called "the most nutritionally dense foods
on the planet". Containing a wide range of trace elements, amino
acids, vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, enzymes and cellular materials,
marine phytoplankton promotes and maintains optimum health by boosting
and supporting all systems within the body. Its antioxidants
and unique polysaccharides can halt the genetic mutations that can lead
to cancer. Both high levels of saccharides and adaptogens increase energy
and stamina by improving our ability to consume and use oxygen. Adaptogens
also improve cardiovascular health by strengthening the heart and circulation.

The initial section on general nutrition is a great guide to healthy
eating with valuable tips about shopping and preparation. (I found Shannon's
information about essential fatty acids particularly helpful.) The subsequent
chapters hold invaluable information about the role that different vitamins
(like B6, folic acid) and minerals (like magnesium and selenium) play in
regulating and enhancing a woman's cycle and her fertility (including topics
like controlling PMS and handling menopause). Table V, on recommended supplements,
has become my personal "bible" for vitamin supplementation - something
I never "believed in" before reading this book. As Shannon suggests in
chapter 15, I hired a local (Chicago-area) nutritionist to help me with
supplements. She read Shannon's book for the first time at my request and
confirmed my opinion that this book is excellent. For example, not only
does Shannon list recommended daily amounts for vitamins and minerals in
her Table V, but she also tells you in a separate column what the latest
research shows about toxicity, i.e., at what amount this vitamin or mineral
may become harmful.

had 3 miscarriages and was emotionally destroyed. We finally gave
up and decided to move to Florida and just go on with our lives. I got
a call from a wonderful friend who was calling to share Goji
juice with me. I purchased Goji (lycium) juice in March and found out
that I was pregnant in May. We were elated! In September I had to go on
complete bed rest but our baby was born completely healthy and on time.
He is a Very Happy Baby and hardly ever cries. His disposition is unlike
any other child I have ever seen. He has done everything early. He was
sitting up unassisted at 5 months, at 6 months he was crawling and was
walking at 9 months. At 8 months he started feeding himself had 8 teeth.
We were very blessed and feel that if we hadn't have had Goji (lycium)
juice, he would have never come along. My baby was born 1/10/05. And the
best news is I am currently 5 months pregnant AGAIN and due in March!
I am taking Goji (lycium) juice again and looking forward to my next Goji

Answer to Infertility Problems? Bee Pollen stimulates ovarian function. The best results were obtained
with a pollen supplementation of 2 parts per 100 in the ration, and with
the substitution of animal proteins with pollen in a proportion of 5 parts
per 100. The intensity of ovulation increased. Parallel to this increase
in ovulation, pollen also improves the ability of eggs to withstand the
incubation period. The best results were obtained with a quantity of 4
parts per 100 of pollen added to the ration, resulting in an increase in
the percentage of eggs in respect to the control group. The application
of pollen is recommended whenever the end result is obtaining eggs for
reproduction.
Phytotherapeutic approaches to infertility. There is much that herbs can contribute to supporting fertility, but
there is no 'wonder cure' here. The suggestions given here will help, but
the practitioner is encouraged to be creative and intuitive in remedy selection.
Each individual woman and man will have plants that suit them best. Identifying
them is part of the skill of the good herbalist.
Hormonal imbalance Hormonal problems, in either partner, are readily treated herbally.
Whilst not containing hormones themselves, some herbs stimulate the glands
concerned, bringing about production of the right proportions of hormones
and in their right sequence in the menstrual cycle to promote conception.
Vitex agnus castus is the key to success here. Research carried out in
the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, found that although it does not
contain the hormone progesterone, it affects the pituitary gland in such
a way that it corrects and regulates the secretion of progesterone from
the ovaries. Vitex also corrects any hormone deficiency of either oestrogen
or progesterone.
Chamaelirium luteum also has the effect of correcting hormonal imbalances.
In Britain, the most frequent use of this remedy is for female infertility,
as well as impotence on the part of the man. Herbalists have been known
to warn people of the potency of this plant should they not want to conceive!
It is an effective tonic to the uterus and ovaries, and is useful to redress
almost any imbalance in either male or female reproductive systems. It
helps to prevent miscarriage, uterine hemorrhage and over-relaxed conditions
of the uterus, even to the extent of prolapse.
Aromatherapy and Massage Aromatherapy utilises essential oils distilled from plants and flowers.
Each oil has a distinctive energy and personality. Combined with massage,
aromatherapy can help to release mental, emotional and physical stress
and promote overall health. The essential oils have been used to support
the immune and hormonal systems, promote ovulation and sperm production
and treat disorders like fibroids and endometriosis.

Jacob I. Mirman, MD - "Since homeopathy is meant to treat
the whole person, it affects the reproductive organs just as surely as
all the rest. If there is no irreversible pathology there it will
create conditions favorable to reproduction, since this is what those organs
are meant to do. This fact is well known among homeopaths and stories
of making babies in infertile women abound." more

- "Every function inside the body is regulated by and depends on water.
Water must be available to carry vital elements, oxygen, hormones, and
chemical messengers to all parts of the body. Without sufficient water
to wet all parts equally, some more remote parts of the body will not receive
the vital elements that water supplies. Water is also needed to carry toxic
waste away from the cells. In fact, there are at least 50 reasons why the
body needs sufficient water on a regular, everyday basis. Without sufficient
water to constantly wet all parts, your body's drought-management system
kicks into action. The histamine-directed chemical messenger systems are
activated to arrange a new, lower quota of water for the drought-stricken
areas. When histamine and its subordinate "drought managers" come across
pain-sensing nerves, they cause pain. This is what I discovered in my research
that I mentioned earlier." more
Homeopathic medicine developed much of its popularity in the United
States and Europe because of its success in treating people with cholera,
scarlet fever, yellow fever and other infectious diseases that were ravaging
populations. Homeopathy also provides many valuable medicines in treating
people who suffer from accidents and injuries. When these medicines are
used in conjunction with conventional first aid procedures, the risk of
long-term damage from an injury can be significantly decreased and the
healing process can be noticeably enhanced.
"Homeopathy can offer good health to women in all stages of their lives
from infancy through old age. It is beneficial for the full range of emotional,
mental and physical problems that a woman is likely to experience, and
can help her through the transitional and developmental milestones of her
life. Homeopathy is truly a friend to women. It is a comprehensive system
of medicine which is able to meet the needs of people in all facets of
their lives, and through all of life's transitions. By strengthening the
immune system and helping to balance the mind and the emotions, homeopathy
can help women achieve the higher purposes of their lives, and feel their
very best." Deborah

Ultrasound equipment bombards a fetus for up to one hour with megahertz
radiation. This radiation, which cycles millions of time per second, can
cause mutation and bleeding in the intestinal cells of rodents.31 Swedish
scientists say routine ultrasound scanning of pregnant women may be causing
subtle brain damage in unborn babies.32 Approximately half of all pregnancies
in the U.S. result in prenatal or postnatal death, or an otherwise less
than healthy baby.33 Many wonder if routine exposure of America's fragile
unborn to megahertz radiation might be a factor, among others, of this
shocking national statistic. Is fetal ultrasound exposure playing some
part in the national epidemic of delayed development in infants, plus learning
and behavior difficulties suffered by millions of our school children?
Exposing the unborn to ionizing X-radiation at airport checkpoints is an
even more dangerous game of roulette.
New research has raised doubts over the safety of ultrasound scans used
to view fetuses in the womb. Scientists have called for further research
to determine whether safety limits should be reviewed for the tests, which
are also used to check internal organs in children and adults. Since the
early 1990s, when American researchers showed that ultrasound tissue heating
can cause bleeding in mouse intestines, ultrasonographers tune the power
of scans to reduce heating. The latest discovery, by scientists at University
College Dublin, is the first to find that scans create changes in cells.
Patrick Brennan, who led the research, said: "It has been assumed for a
long time that ultrasound has no effect on cells. We now have grounds to
question that assumption." The researchers gave 12 mice an eight megahertz
scan lasting for 15 minutes. Hospital scans can last for up to an hour,
using frequencies of between three and 10 megahertz. According to today's
New Scientist, two significant changes in the cells of the small intestine
were detected in scanned mice compared with unscanned mice. Four and a
half hours after exposure, the rate of cell division had reduced by 22
per cent and the rate of programmed cell death had approximately doubled.
Mr Brennan believes there will be similar effects in humans. New

offers important preconceptual advice for everyone of childbearing age.
He discusses how to achieve a speedy conception and explains what to do
in the preconceptual and early pregnancy periods to improve the pregnancy
outcome and increase the child's chances for a healthy start in life. Despite
the book's title, those seeking information on natural fertility enhancement
methods, such as herbal supplementation, may be disappointed. The natural
methods alluded to involve working with the body's natural fertility by
better understanding human reproductive physiology, and the author does
recommend the use of medical technology, including hormone testing, sonograms,
and vaccines. Still, this is a useful book that fills a gap in the current
literature in two ways: it addresses conception for couples who do not
have diagnosed medical conditions interfering with fertility, and it incorporates
new research findings and information on current reproductive technology
Women who take the popular antidepressant Prozac while pregnant might
negatively affect the development of their babies. Researchers found some
of the consequences included babies that were born lighter and sleepier
than normal. Respiratory problems were another reported consequence. A
report revealed that the effects of taking the drug were more likely to
happen in utero exposure during the late stages in gestation. The report
involved the study of Prozac, known generically as fluoxetine. Although
the studied toxicity of this drug was considered to be reversible, long-term
studies have yet to be performed to observe residual effects. Experts also
found that Prozac could affect sex drive in both adult men and women, and
it was discovered that the drug was getting into the blood of newborns
through breast milk. It was also reported that mood disorders in women
of childbearing years was common and statistics showed that 15.6 percent
of women met the qualifications for major depression while in their third
trimester of pregnancy. Researchers suggested further examination of how
and why antidepressants could trigger the production of new brain cells,
which could affect a fetus or newborn in ways that haven’t yet been explored.
CNN April 28, 2004
Dr. Mercola - "Depression is a serious condition that needs to
be taken seriously, especially among pregnant women because of the possible
health risks that can be caused to the developing fetus or later to the
newborn child. But drugs are rarely a wise choice for pregnant women. There
are much safer alternatives where you won’t have to risk negatively altering
the development of your baby and any other long-term health effects. Here
are some simple and virtually non-toxic therapy options: The use of omega-3
oils is an absolute must with most Americans but particularly with
pregnant women. This is because the vast majority of women are deficient
in higher order beneficial omega-3 fats like DHA. DHA is responsible for:
Preventing the vast majority of premature deliveries, Maximizing intelligence
and Optimizing vision in infants. Supplementing your diet with omega-3
fat from fish oil or cod
liver oil is also an excellent way to treat depression. If this subject
interests you, I highly recommend Dr.
Stoll's book The Omega-3 Connection. He is a Harvard psychiatrist who
has done a great job of compiling the evidence supporting the use of fish
oils for depression. But in addition to treating the depression,
omega-3 will also do wonders for improving the intelligence of the child
and protecting them from the epidemic of brain injuries such as autism,
pervasive developmental delay and ADHD".
Chemicals and Toxins Are The Primary
Cause of Illness, Disease, Miscarriage, and Obesity Substances that are toxic to our bodies come at us from all directions:
the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink, the cleaning products
we use, and the metabolic waste produced inside us. Toxins build-up in
the body contribute to premature aging and chronic and degenerative diseases.
Dr. Steve Nugent, the past president of the American Naturopathic Medical
Association, reported recently that "in the typical American home there
are more toxins inside the home than outside the home! Your cells actually
contain over 400 new toxins that didn't even exist 45 years ago and we
are losing the battle against toxins!" It's a fact. There are increasing
amounts of toxins and chemical agents in the water we drink, the food we
eat and the air we breathe - they all contribute to the breakdown in cellular
communication and disease. more

battle against inflammation is at the forefront of the fight for health
and well-being of the global population. Authors Joseph Maroon and Jeffrey
Bost have set out to reverse that trend with "Fish Oil: The Natural Anti-Inflammatory." Ultra-Refined
Fish Oil
Pharmaceujtical companies
have spent billions of dollars in an attempt to understand the bio-chemistry
of inflammation. Unfortunately, pharmaceutical anit-inflammatories such
as Celebrex, Vioxx, and Bextra have been shown to greatly increase the
risk of heart attack, stroke, and uncontrollable gastric hemorrhage, with
potentially fatal consequences. Is there a safer alternative? Absolutiely!
The answer lies in the power of the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil,
undeniably the most under-recognized and also the most petent natural anti-inflammatory
available. With compelling arguments and the results of thousands of clinical
studies to support them. the uathors explain in plain and simple terms;
How the inflammation process works and how it can evolve into a chroninc
condition that is the cause of many diseases; How fatty acids work in the
body; Why supplementtion with omega-3 fatty acids can restore the body's
balance and mitigate the effects of inflmmatory factors; and why fish oil
is the best source of omega-3 fatty acids, and how to identify good-quality
fish oil supplements.

It's becoming an old and all too well-known story: In today's world,
most women have to be a "superwoman." It is expected that women must play
the varied roles of wife, lover, mother, wage-earner, chauffeur, care-giver,
teacher, philanthropist and volunteer - not to mention chief cook and bottle-washer!
Pressures on women are enormous and women's lifestyles are energy-sapping.
Over 80% of women visiting their doctor's today put chronic tiredness at
the top of the list of their health problems. This is definitely interfering
with women's love life and sexuality.
Does aging mean decreased sexuality? No! In fact, it may mean just the
opposite, especially for women. Maturity brings experience and relaxation
into sexuality. After menopause, most women feel far more spontaneous and
much more connected to a loving partner. Psychological factors may govern
our rate of sexual activity but once a woman's libido is awakened, it responds
until she dies. But great sex depends on good health. Most of a woman's
barriers to having great sex are physical - stemming from an unhealthy
lifestyle, poor nutrition, stress and burnout, or the side effects of prescription
drugs. Even if her sexual challenges stem from emotional issues, good nutrition
and healing herbs can make a tremendous positive impact.

According to a Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) study
approximately 43 percent of women and 31 percent of men suffer sexual inadequacy
for one reason or another. The reasons cited included low desire, frigidity,
performance anxiety, premature ejaculation and/or pain during intercourse.
This is thought to actually be an underestimation of the real level of
sexual dysfunction in the U.S. Research indicated that many of the sexual
concerns were likely treatable, as they are due to physical or emotional
health issues.
These health concerns may include common hormonal imbalances such as
hypothyroidism, low progesterone levels, low
testosterone levels; emotional blocks related to your self, your partner
or your relationship; overweight conditions, lack of exercise and personal
time, mental stress related to family or personal issues, Menopause, Surgery

Many women in particular still complain of a lack of sexual desire for
two years after childbirth due to the hormonal and personal changes that
occur. Low libido, lack of sexual desire, and lack of sexual fulfillment
are a few of the potential symptoms that are not resolved for many people.

women who got the most calcium from dairy products actually broke more

The
dairy industry spends several billion dollars each year trying to convince
you that you can't live without your two glasses of pasteurized, homogenized
milk each day. The Myth of Osteoporosis is a research-based work that provides
clear insight into the myths of osteoporosis. These myths motivate both
patient and physician into a lifetime of unnecessary testing and drug therapy
— therapy that can in fact be life-threatening. Gillian Sanson's well-documented
explanation of these myths can spare women great anxiety. She takes the
fear out of aging and restores women's sense of control over their bodies.
She gives women good reasons for challenging the common way that osteoporosis
is handled in the United States and
in many other industrialized nations.

of water fluoridation 0.1 ppm still produced statistically significant
increased hip fractures.

Contrary to the medical marketing hype, synthetic hormonal drugs,
dairy products and most calcium supplements actually weaken the bones and
have other harmful effects on health.
We know that countries where dairy consumption is low (Thailand) have
almost no osteoporosis while nations eating lots of dairy products (Germany,
Scandanavia, United States) are afflicted with an epidemic of osteoporosis.
I think that terminating the high protein intake from dairy products and
meat when Dr. Graham switched to eating a raw diet could have permitted
Dr. Graham’s bones to restore the proper balance of minerals (calcium,
magnesium) needed for strong bones. Over a period of time the bony spurs
in his neck vertebrae might disappear. Reversal of arthritic problems by
an alkalinizing diet full of fruit and vegetables is a worthwhile endeavor
for all persons suffering from arthritis.
Women
are constantly bombarded with the message that the war on bone loss must
include calcium supplements and a daily consumption of calcium-rich foods,
primarily dairy products. Doctors strongly recommend long-term use of (synthetic)
oestrogen to the postmenopausal woman, and, if additional help is required,
suggest the use of bone-building drugs like Fosamax. So, armed with this
powerful arsenal, a woman is assured that she will walk tall and fracture-free
through the latter part of her life. Unfortunately, this is far from the
truth.
A way to prevent osteoporosis without
costly drugs, extensive supplements and expensive treatments. Instead of
treating symptoms, Dr. Appleton looks at the cause. Through the principle
of balancing body chemistry, Dr. Appleton shows us what we do to bring
on calcium loss and what we can do to correct the problem. She offers a

The bone-thinning condition called osteoporosis can lead to small and
not-so-small fractures. Although many people think of calcium in the diet
as good protection for their bones, this is not at all the whole story.
In fact, in a 12-year Harvard study of 78,000 women, those who got the
most calcium from dairy products actually broke more bones than women who
rarely drank milk. Similarly, a 1994 study of elderly men and women in
Sydney, Australia, showed that higher dairy product consumption was associated
with increased fracture risk. Those with the highest dairy product consumption
had approximately double the risk of hip fracture compared to those with
the lowest consumption. To protect your bones you do need calcium in your

Many women drink milk in order to
prevent bone loss after menopause. The fact is that animal protein inhibits
the absorption of calcium. Women from third world countries who have a
very low calcium intake combined with a low intake of animal protein, including
dairy, have much less of an incidence of osteoporosis. A study to determine
the effects of milk consumption on the calcium metabolism of healthy postmenopausal
women funded by the National Dairy Council showed that drinking three 8-ounce
glasses of low fat milk a day for one year failed to create a positive
calcium balance in these women. It is much better to supplement with calcium
magnesium
citrate, and eat minimal animal protein after menopause. (Excerpt

Does
pasteurized
milk really do the body good?
During the 1930's, Dr. Francis
M. Pottenger conducted a 10-year study on the relative effects of pasteurized
and raw milk diets on 900 cats. One group received nothing but raw whole
milk, while the other was fed nothing but pasteurized whole milk from the
same source. The raw milk group thrived, remaining healthy, active and
alert throughout their lives, but the group fed on pasteurized milk soon
became listless, confused and highly vulnerable to a host of chronic degenerative
ailments normally associated with humans, including heart disease, kidney
failure, thyroid dysfunction, respiratory ailments,
loss of teeth, brittle bones, liver inflammation, etc. But what caught
Dr. Pottenger's attention most was what happened to the second and third
generations... more

Research
suggests "magnesium stimulates parathyroid hormone and calcitonin, two
hormones that prevent bone thinning," says Dr. Dean. "Getting 320 mg. of
magnesium daily could prevent osteoporosis altogether." Doctors, too, stress
the importance of calcium to their older patients trying to avoid bone
loss and osteoporosis. But a physician at the Keck School of Medicine of
USC is looking one rung beyond calcium in the periodic table of the elements:
magnesium. Magnesium seems to play a role in keeping bones healthy,
said Robert Rude, USC professor of medicine.
Epidemiological studies looking at bone health and diet have found that
the more magnesium people consume in their food, the denser their bones,
Rude said. But scientists need more proof before they know for certain
that magnesium directly boosts bone strength, so Rude has been investigating
the effects of poor magnesium consumption in mice through a recently completed
study funded by the National Institute on Aging. "In these studies, we
and others have found that magnesium depletion will result in bone loss
and osteoporosis," Rude said. "There seems to be both less bone growth
and increased bone loss." Magnesium is extremely important to many
functions in the body, which is why a deficiency can cause many different
symptoms. It is most widely known for being needed for proper bone
formation. With a deficiency, bones will be soft, and it can play
a role in osteoporosis. more
Called the "anti-stress mineral," it aids in relaxing nerves, relieving
tension, assisting digestion, activating enzymes important for protein
and carbohydrate metabolism, and modulating the electrical potential across
all cell membranes. Magnesium is important in the production and transfer
of energy, muscle contraction and relaxation, and nerve conduction. It
also aids regularity, is necessary to keep vertebrae in their proper position,
induces restful sleep, purifies and purges body tissues (combats acids,
toxins, gases, impurities, and neutralizes poisons), and lowers fever.
Magnesium is stored in the bowel, nerves and ligaments. Chlorophyll
and green vegetables contain large amounts of magnesium.

teaspoon of magnesium citrate powder to which I may add some real
salt or some raw honey. I also drink a couple of capful of Goji
juice to help relax my nervous system. Within 10 minutes I'm peacefully
asleep and no longer wake up in startle. Each time I drink my magnesium
citrate at night I wake up wonderfully refreshed in the morning. (Magnesium
oxide is the most common but is the worse to assimilate. Magnesium citrate

This book offers advice that you won't hear from the average doctor.
Every patient with osteoporosis has already heard the advice "take more
calcium and excercise more", but this author suggests that in addition
to adhering to that advice, folks should also take additional mineral supplements
(including strontium, boron, and several others, many of which the author
documents to be at least as important as calcium in building bone density).
The author also explains exactly why progesterone (not progestin) is a
good thing to take and documents its lack of side effects (which I'm happy
to report has been my experience). No one had ever told me there are natural
compounds other than calcium which are important (perhaps crucial!) to
building and maintaining strong bones.
Marine Phytoplankton facilitates the secretion
and release of HGH, which is responsible for many of the body’s important
maintenance, repair, and development functions. These include the production
of lean muscle and the incorporation of calcium into bones and teeth.
Dr. Jerry Tennant, M.D. says that marine phytoplankton contains
almost everything one needs to sustain life and to restore health by providing
the raw materials to make new cells that function normally. Marine phytoplankton
has been called "the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet". Containing
a wide range of trace elements, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll,
enzymes and cellular materials, marine phytoplankton promotes and maintains
optimum health by boosting and supporting all systems within the body.
Its antioxidants and unique polysaccharides can halt the genetic mutations
that can lead to cancer. Both high levels of saccharides and adaptogens
increase energy and stamina by improving our ability to consume and use
oxygen. Adaptogens also improve cardiovascular health by strengthening
the heart and circulation. more about marine

Chronic Acidosis and Osteoporosis
From the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition - A recent seven-year
study conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, on 9,000
women showed that those who have chronic acidosis
are at greater risk for bone loss than those who have normal pH levels.
The scientists who carried out this experiment believe that many of the
hip fractures prevalent among middle-aged women are connected to high acidity
caused by a diet rich in animal foods and low in vegetables. This is because
the body borrows calcium from the bones in order to balance pH. The cells
of the body in health are alkaline. In disease the cell pH is below 7.0.
The more acid the cells become, the sicker we are and feel. We can remain
in health by consuming a diet that is 70-80% alkaline and 20-30% acid.
Most raw-foods diets are predominantly
alkaline forming foods. Alkalizing

Bone
Loss - December, 1964: Dr. Benjamin H. Ershoff, begins
NASA-sponsored research prompted by evidence that astronauts' bodies lose
large amounts of calcium from the bones under conditions of weightlessness.
According to doctors, such conditions weaken the body and increase chances
that kidney stones may develop during flights lasting months or years.
Ershoff found that supplementing the diet with calcium alone couldn't reverse
the severe damage of severely accelerated osteoporosis--but clay did, for
animals. Especially the red desert clay, Red
Desert™ clay, produced impressive results in promoting growth and preventing
disorders in the bones of tested animals, Ershoff said. When a small
percentage of the Red Desert™ clay was added to the diet, Ershoff said,
the animals' body weight increased and bone diseases were prevented.
Little or no benefits were noted, he said, when calcium alone was added.
"This means that the clay supplement contained some factor or factors other
than calcium which promoted improved calcium utilization and bone formation,"
he explained. Ershoff added that the consumption of clay has been observed
among many peoples and animals for centuries, especially in areas where
there is a marked deficiency of calcium, iron and other minerals in the
diet. mor

Bones : A Six-Point Plan to Promote Healthy Bones This book is about nourishing the body. In a clear, cogent, well researched
and well scripted fifteen chapters, Pam outlines the causes of osteoporosis
and the cure. She points out the statistics that in the next 60 years the
US will have over 135 million people suffering with this debilitating disease.
The fact that osteoporosis (sick bone disease) is probably a cause of heart
disease, and therefore contributes to the top two killers (heart disease
and cancer) is startling. This is a serious disease which is thought to
have pediatric onset. It is not too late to pay attention to good nutrition
and to the unhealthy foods and inadequate supplements we use. Many of the
foods we eat and drink are toxic, and the synthetic suppplements may be
poorly absorbed because their synthetic nature is not compatible with the
body's needs. The phosphates in carbonated drinks leaches calcium from
the bones. With the help of case studies including her own frightening
encounter with back and hip problems and devastating pain which kept her
bedridden, she outlines a six point program to restore nutritional balance
and feed our sick bones appropriately. The book gives the most cogent and
coherent discussion of nutrition, food sources and nutritional supplements
for healing and recovering from osteopoorosis that I have ever read. Yes,
osteoporosis is not irreversible! PERFECT BONES includes a list of 84 signs

The
Coral Calcium story began when a journalist with the Guinness Book of Records
was dispatched to interview a man named Shigechiyo Izumi who lived on a
small island off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. Guinness was looking to verify
and document that Mr. Izumi was the world's oldest living human at ate
115. During the interview, the journalist noticed that most of the islanders
enjoyed the same good health as Mr. Izumi and that these islanders seldom
died before age 95. Mr. Izumi submitted to a full medical checkup and at
115, doctors were amazed to find that he was still a very healthy man.
This prompted a team of researchers to try to determine what was keeping
these people in such incredible health. They found the water the islanders
drank was different from water found anywhere else in the world. These
islands were built up from coral reefs and when rain falls, it percolates
coral deposits and picks up minerals and other elements that make it truly
unique. This water contained many essential minerals that are chemically
similar to the elements found in the human skeleton, body fluids and blood.
It was also very alkaline, with pH of 8.6. Scientists concluded that maintaining
the alkaline pH appears to be essential for life, health and vitality.
Among the oldest and most primitive of organisms is coral. Coral reefs
surround islands everywhere in the world, but the coral reefs surrounding
Okinawa have proved to be like no other. Coral Calcium has a natural pH
range of 10-11 and has an alkalizing effect on the body, which
can be of great support to those who need to offset acidity levels*.
Out of over 2,500 varieties of coral in the world, only the Sango Coral
contains an organic composition identical to that of the human skeleton,
including calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium and many other microscopic
elements essential to human life. It is widely used for bone grafts
throughout the world. Because coral calcium is ionic and readily bioavailable,
it does not become a free radical in the process and donates electrons
to repair the damaged cells. A major health benefit!

WHAT IS
TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME? Toxic Shock Syndrome develops when the common bacteria, Staphylococcus
aureus, produce a toxin which is absorbed into the bloodstream. The toxin
rapidly overwhelms the immune system and attacks the major organs, leading
to kidney failure, collapse of the lungs and in severe cases, cardiac arrest.
Alarmingly, half of all known cases of Toxic Shock are women using TAMPONS.
An American woman uses as many as 11,000 tampons in her lifetime. Most
tampons sold by companies such as Tampax, OB, Playtex and Kotex are made
of rayon or rayon-cotton blends. Rayon, a woodpulp derivative commonly
bleached with chlorine, contains dioxin, an organochlorine formed during
the bleaching process.
Mounting evidence suggests that low levels of dioxin may be linked to
cancer (especially breast cancer), immune system suppression and low sperm
counts. A February 7 Village Voice article estimated that 73 million US
women regularly risk dioxin exposure when they put bleached sanitary products
in contact with highly absorbent mucous membranes.
In 1992, a congressional subcommittee discovered a March 1989 memo stating
that Food and Drug Administration (FDA) scientists had detected trace levels
of dioxin in tampons.
The memo warned that "the risk of dioxin in tampons can be quite high,"
and that "the most effective risk-management strategy would be to assure
that tampons contain no dioxin." Subcommittee chair Ted Weiss accused the
FDA of purposely ignoring the dioxin danger in tampons. A New York University
School of Medicine study, published in the July 1994 issue of Infectious
Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynecology, suggested that rayon also produces
Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, which cause toxic shock syndrome (TSS).
When researchers tested 20 varieties of tampons for
their ability to induce TSS toxins, the bacteria were detected in all US
brands.

"Of the women in menopause today, about half start synthetic hormone
replacement, but only half of those stick with it because of the
side effects or fear of cancer risk. The threat of breast and uterine cancer
is dramatically increased with HRT. Premarin, an estrogen replacement drug
for menopausal women made from pregnant mare's urine, is the top selling
drug of any kind in the U.S. But justifiable controversy about synthetic
hormone replacementmay mean that the threat of breast and uterine cancer
is dramatically increased with HRT. In 51 studies covering 21 countries
involving more than 52,000 women with breast cancer and 108,000 women without
breast cancer, women who used Premarin for 5 years or longer had a 35%
higher risk of developing cancer than women who had never been on HRT.
(Good news! The higher risk for breast cancer diminished and largely disappeared
after about 5 years off HRT treatment.) Most women don't know that Premarin,
is made from pregnant mare's urine, and that the mares are kept in horrendous
conditions - their foals are sold for slaughter. Premarin is the most
prescribed of all drugs in America today. The mares are artificially inseminated
and forced to spend their 11-month pregnancies in stalls so small they
cannot turn. If they try to lie down, their heads are jolted upright by
their halter chains. Long lines of pregnant horses stand, chained and strapped
into cramped concrete and steel pens like rows of four-legged galley slaves.
They shuffle uncomfortably from hoof to hoof. A forlorn look fills their
eyes as they stare. Their coats are dull, their ears droopy - tell-tale
signs of a horse's misery. Many get sore, swollen legs or become crippled
from standing, months on end, in their tiny concrete stalls. The mares
are kept constantly thirsty. They are denied water so that their urine
becomes thick."

CANDIDA Conquering Yeast Infections: The Non-Drug Solution
People may have symptoms that appear totally unrelated to the candida
such as irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, vaginal yeast

of the GI tract and culinary sugars begin their work immediately on the
teeth, gums and tissues through interaction with fungi. Sugar activates
candida metabolism and some of its by-products are neurotoxins such as
formaldehyde, alcohol and acetlyaldehyde. One's nervous system can become
deranged during candida due to specific neurotoxins. Autism is one example
of this.
What
Every Parent Should Know BEFORE Their Childen Are Vaccinated! Why
are a growing number of parents and health care professionals around the
world questioning vaccination? The controversy stems from the thousands
of deaths and permanent disabilities attributed to vaccination annually,
as well as the many published medical studies, government statistics, congressional
testimonies, and other credible sources that directly contradict commonly
held assumptions about vaccine safety and effectiveness.
Bart Classen, a Maryland physician, published data showing that diabetes
rates rose significantly in New Zealand following a massive hepatitis B
vaccine campaign in young children, and that diabetes rates also went up
sharply in Finland after three new childhood vaccines were introduced.

In fall 1997, two influential professional magazines featured articles
asking the question: Has the decrease of infectious diseases in childhood
through the mass use of vaccines been replaced with an increase in chronic
diseases such as diabetes and asthma? The Economist, a prestigious international
magazine read by world leaders in government, business and public policy,
and Science News, a magazine read by both health care professionals
and the general public, explored the reported links between vaccines and
chronic diseases in their November 22, 1997 issues.

Dr Bill Miller - "Why
have middle aged women’s stroke rate increased three times in recent years?
From 1999 to 2004 nearly 2% of women aged 35 to 54 suffered from a stroke
compared to the prior Federal health Surveys from 1994 to 1998 in which
less that 1% of women had the same condition.. No risk factors such as
smoking, heart disease or diabetes had changed between surveys. What has
changed is women’s waistlines! They are two inches bigger. Their body mass
index (BMI) rose from 27 to 29. Dr Miller says your shoulders should be
10 inches wider than your waistline. Drink
the Holy Tea and dump the toxins. Eat nuts, seeds,
fruits and vegetables to prevent stoke. And exercise with good hydration.
Shirley was once a victim
of the never-ending flow of propaganda from the medical establishment who
wants to maintain a monopoly on the word "cure" and who wants us to believe
that we have no control over our own health and that our only hope to get
"well" is with drugs, surgery and radiation. You can read an account

journey into health without drugs, surgery or radiation.

Dr.
Howard Peiper MD "Our immune systems are under attack from toxic substances
that are everywhere - in the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water
we drink. Serious disease doesn't just happen. The accumulation of toxins
compromises our immune system and wears the body down leaving us vulnerable
to all sorts of maladies. The body has an amazing ability to recover from
illness and restore itself if we give it the tools to work with." learn

Ugly Side of Cosmetics Make-up and body care products have been linked
to allergic reactions, birth defects, and even cancer. It is a medically
recognised fact that our body absorbs significant amounts of what we put

The
acid-alkaline balance of the body has an enormous impact on a person’s
health. When the pH of the body gets out of balance (too acidic), we
may experience low energy, fatigue, excess weight, poor digestion, aches
and pains, and even more serious disorders. When the body is excessively
acidic, vital organs and individual cells are subject to damage or destruction.
This condition, known as acidosis, can be a cause, an effect, or even a
symptom of almost any health condition. By balancing the body's acidity
levels, this simple plan can help toward curing various medical conditions,
including arthritis, hepatitis, insomnia, alcoholism, and kidney disease.

Raising
Public Awareness Most modern maladies are
caused by prolonged exposure to a combination of negative lifestyles and
toxic environmental factors, including junk food and malnutrition, pesticides,
antibiotics, microwaves, chemical pollution of food, water and air, lack
of exercise and chronic stress. These factors are further aggravated by
the failure of modern medicine to recognize them as agents of dis-"ease"
and death and the consequent failure to take preventative measures against
them. more
